Rituals of Self-Correction and Care
A research residency dedicated to the intersection of ancestral Balinese ritual and modern emotional intelligence. This immersion focused on self-correction through the alignment of the physical and emotional bodies. By integrating site-specific water purification, somatic movement, and the acquisition of new emotional language, participants navigated a journey from sensory saturation to internal clarity.
The Architecture of the Residency
PURIFICATION
Utilized traditional Balinese
water rituals and medicine-
making to engage the body’s
natural detoxification and
sensory awareness.
ALIGNMENT
Combined daily movement with sound bowl therapy and chakra meditations to harmonize physical strength with energetic resonance.
ARTICULATION
Facilitated emotional intelligence coaching to provide the precise language needed for self-regulation and the clear expression of internal states.
OFFERING
Practiced the art of the Balinese offering and communal dining as daily anchors to ground individual intentions into the collective experience.
A bespoke physical record designed for each participant to extend the work beyond the residency. This archive documents the ritual movements and medicine making alongside the spiritual intentions behind each practice. From the symbolic prayer of the Balinese offering to the resonant peace of sound healing, this folio ensures the work remains a permanent resource for the interior life.
Workshop. The Journey Within. A study in acquiring the linguistic tools necessary for internal navigation and somatic boundaries.
How does the acquisition of new language—both somatic and verbal—transform our capacity for self-care?
